IBM Hiring Manager

IBM

590 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10022, United States

Dear IBM Hiring Manager,

My name is Ravid Rahman and I am a second-year undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, at the City College of New York. I came across this specific job posting while browsing job openings posted on IBM’s website. I have decided to reach out to you regarding this posting as I find myself aptly qualified for the position given my resume. A quick glance reveals that I am proficient in both Java and C++, and have partaken in a slew of competitions which have strengthened my ability to collaborate with others, as well as my problem solving skills.

Although my experience with programming in C++ is only limited to this year, I have been programming in Java for quite some time now. Many of the competitions I have partaken in reflect my proficiency in the language. Also, my understanding of Object-Oriented Programming constructs and design principles are rather keen as C++ and Java are considered as pillars of Object-Oriented Programming.

My ability to work with others has been sharpened through numerous competitions that requires team collaboration, such as the Future Business Leaders of America, the First Tech Challenge, Carnegie Melon’s picoCTF, and the Westchester Mobile App Bowl to name a few. By taking part in so many competitions I have learned how to effectively function within a unit working towards a unified goal.

Similarly, these competitions have also enhanced my analytical skills. From participating in the Future Business Leaders of America and the Westchester Mobile App Bowl, I have learned how to best tackle a problem. Carnegie Melon’s picoCTF and the First Tech Challenge, on the other hand, have strengthened my ability to adapt to changing problems as new issues occur.

Given my qualifications, I feel as though I am more than suitable for the position and would be more than elated to meet for a follow-up interview. Given my current class as well as work schedule, I would be free anytime Mondays after 12:00 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays after 4:00 pm. Although I would be at Harlem around this time, I would have no trouble making it to your Midtown office. Please do not hesitate to call or message me at (914) 325-5836 or to send me an email me at ravidrahman@gmail.com.

Best Regards,

Ravid Rahman
